Church Update – 25/05/18
The votes are in. The decision has been made. Commissioner Brian Peddle has been elected as the 21st General of The Salvation Army. You might say who? Good question. Brian is the current Chief of Staff (second in charge). Worth a note … Brian Peddle along with his wife Rosalie, were the Divisional Leaders of our Northern Division some years back. Great that they know something of Aotearoa NZ.
This Sunday, our Divisional Leaders Captains David and Denise Daly will be with us as we celebrate Candidates Sunday. “I’m saying yes” is the theme. Perhaps your yes to God’s will for your life will include Officership, or Corps Leadership, or Stepping Stones Pastor or Youth Pastor here at Miramar. What ever that looks like, it starts with a yes. You won’t want to miss the welcome of 5 people who have decided to make this church, their church!
OK, we still need help! The Family Store will be open on Queen’s Birthday Monday. This is a fundraiser in our budget. I know, it is a long weekend. I know, you would rather be home eating cucumber sandwiches remembering the Queen on her birthday. But, we need more volunteers to help with this important fundraiser. If you can help, please see Pastor Dave.
We are excited that William Johnstone is off to a 6 week boot camp in Christchurch. He is absolutely thrilled and looking forward to this experience. William has been the sound technician at Mainly Music and will be away from 8 June til 20 July. If you can help, or know anyone who would be willing to help for this time, please contact Sherry Cornish.
Talking about being away, Trish, Jordan and Shae are in Europe at the moment.
A note for your church calendar – we have postponed the next Inn Cafe planned for 9 June.
Finally. I called to visit Bep at Kenepuru Hospital. She is bright and positive and happy. As we chatted, she was soaking up sun rays. She says hi and thanks everyone for their visits and prayers. Well done church.
All the best to our youth for UNITE this Sunday night. We are so proud of you!!
Enough from me. See you Sunday.
Pastor Dave
