Church Update – 09/02/18
Hi church family
I spent some time this week at the beach. One day as part of mentoring another person, and another time to read the Bible.
At one beach I saw this stunning seagull hovering in the air – just being there with hardly any movement at all – like suspended in mid air with fine nylon you couldn’t see. The intelligence and experience of the bird knew just where to put itself to soar.
Then this morning I watched the rolling waves heading majestically towards Breaker Bay. Again what captured my attention was the power generated by the surging volume of water. The only thing missing was a person or dolphin surfing.
It’s all about positioning. The best place for the seagull to catch the updraughts, and the best place for the surfer to ride the waves.
And it is like that in the Kingdom of God too…
In my mind, having thought and pondered about this year, the banner over our church for me is Passion – Boldness – Positioning.
Rod Carey said it so well last week – stay no longer in the shallows. Launch out into the deep. It’s all about positioning.
Growing in your faith as a disciple of Jesus – it’s all about positioning.
Where is the best place for you to be to hear God speaking, to see the hand of God moving, to know the power of God in your life? Once you find that place, that is where you will feel alive, feel free and feel joy.
The answer for me is in being with the right people, listening to the right songs and enjoying the right environment.
